Congratulations to Callie Miller on defending her PhD Thesis in Bioengineering, “Identifying essential mechanisms for cortical actomyosin contractions with computational modeling.” Callie is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher with Drs. Timothy Elston, Jason Haugh, and James Bear at the North Carolina State University in Raleigh North Carolina.
Strong showing at the BMES Cellular & Molecular Bioengineering Special Interest Group meeting in La Jolla, CA. Melis Hazar (co-advised with Dr. Phil LeDuc at CMU and Dr. Bill Messner at Tufts) spoke about her investigation of Xenopus tissue morphogenesis using microfluidics. Callie Miller and Deepthi Vijayraghavan presented posters on their work on computation models of actomyosin and Xenopus neurulation, respectively.
